A hot water boiler system mainly consists of five parts: the boiler body or heat exchanger unit, heat source (gas/oil burner, biomass grate, or electric heating elements), PLC control panel, makeup water and treatment equipment, and safety devices (safety valves, pressure gauges, and over-temperature protection).
Main auxiliary equipment includes hot water circulation pumps, expansion tanks or pressurization systems, automatic water softeners, bypass mixing valves and recirculation pumps (for low-temperature corrosion prevention), plate heat exchangers (for indirect heating), and water strainers.
Hot water boilers are commonly classified by system pressure, outlet temperature, and structural design.
System pressure: Atmospheric hot water boilers and pressurized hot water boilers.
Outlet temperature: Low-temperature hot water (LTHW) systems and high-temperature hot water (HTHW) systems.
Structural design: Horizontal fire-tube boilers (such as WNS) and water-tube boilers.
Hot water boilers can be designed for natural gas, LPG, light oil, heavy oil, biomass, coal, or electric heating.
Ex-Works (EXW) reference prices vary depending on capacity, fuel type, operating temperature, and auxiliary equipment.
Standard quotations usually cover the boiler body and basic control system. Pumps, heat exchangers, installation, shipping, and other auxiliary equipment are quoted separately.
Final prices depend on technical specifications and project requirements.
Standard manufacturing and hydrostatic testing lead times are typically:
Customized designs, special materials, peak production periods, and transportation requirements may require additional time.
Boiler selection depends on heating capacity, outlet temperature, fuel availability, system pressure, and operating conditions.
The boiler should match the actual heating demand and future operating requirements.
Proper water treatment helps control hardness and prevent scale formation.
For many industrial hot water boilers, feedwater hardness is controlled below 0.03 mmol/L (about 3 ppm as CaCO₃). Water softeners are commonly used for normal applications.
For high-temperature systems or applications with poor raw water quality, additional treatment methods may be required to control corrosion and maintain system reliability.
Water hammer can be reduced by maintaining proper circulation flow, removing trapped air, and avoiding rapid valve closing.
Low-temperature corrosion can be prevented by maintaining the return water temperature above the flue gas acid dew point. Bypass mixing valves or recirculation pumps are commonly used for temperature control.
Before maintenance, isolate fuel, electrical power, and system connections according to local safety regulations.
Confirm that the system pressure has been released and the water temperature has cooled to a safe level before draining or opening the equipment.
For confined-space entry, ensure proper ventilation, gas testing, work permits, and safety supervision according to local regulations.
